Basic but okay...
Picked this up because of the sale and price, but it was a bit acidy for my taste and a flat after taste.I guess you can say you get what you pay for or maybe i expect to much being that I live close bay area close to all the winery's. Would i pick this up again. Hmmm- probably not

definitly avoid the 2012
The 2014 is is nice enough for a value wine. The 2012 which we bought about 2 months ago along with 2012 tastes cooked (like prunes). It tastes past its prime. Check the vintages.

superb
Sometimes I buy a more expensive wine like 20-30bucks or so. And I just have to think all the time why is it so expensive when Challis is so cheap and sooo good. OK, no fancy label and even the cork is plastic but open it, let it breath for five minutes and you would never guess you can actually buy this for five bucks in the 5c sale. I am a wine drinker and no snob, try to serve it to somebody without saying the price and let them guess.

Good for a $5 wine ($9.99 with 5c sale)
I am a serious wine drinker, so I've tried almost all varietals/vintages from the famous wine regions. For a $5 wine (bought this for $9.99 on 5c sale), this wine is acceptable. However, don't believe any one who says this wine is worth more than $10; there are much better wines available in the $10+ range at other major wine outlets.

Great wine for the price
I don't understand all the two and one stars. It's a $10.00 bottle of wine and for the price it's really good! I would definitely buy it again!

$70 dollar wine, great taste and smoooooth.
Im drinking it now and it taste good for a 5buck wine,... i agree its smooth, you taste berrys very nice , and smooth drinking. When i ate european chocolate with hazalnuts the wine tastes like a $70 bottle, more harsh, and you can trully sence a nice taste of berrys. Im by no means a wine drinker though this wine is the best wine i drank and i usally had wine 2-28 bucks and then 40 70 bnuck wine,.. this one falls into the 70 buck wine catogory. good stuff.

Great value red wine
Like most reviewers say, this is an excellent red wine for the money. The Challis Lane reds are all good, but this might be my favorite. Very smooth and full bodied. This may not rank as 5 stars for taste compared to more expensive wines, but you pay a lot for that extra star. And even some more expensive wines are not this good. For this wine, 5 stars is fair when you consider taste and price.

Be careful of the vintage years when reading reviews
The 2011 is amazing for the price! I have bought all of the 2011 I can find, but in my area it is all gone. I tried the 2012 and will that vintage was just ok would give the 2012 2 1/2- 3 stars. If you can find the 2011 buy it! I would pass on the 2012. I really wish bevmo did a better job of separating vintages by year, reading the reviews and professional evaluation they don't separate them by vintage ( this wine currently has title showing 2011, but product info says 2012, I expect virtually everything in the stores is 2012) and there can be a huge difference between years!

At 2 for $10 on the 5-cent sale, one of the best you'll find!
For "cheap" wine, the Challis Lane reds are pretty good. This Zin is the best of the group. Ran it thru a Vinturi before drinking to smooth it out and really enjoyed it. Had a lot more depth to it than I would have expected. If you're looking for an above average, every day table wine to eat w/ your pasta & marinara or pizza, you can't ask for more. At the $5 price point (on the 5-cent sale), this will be a regular purchase.

Good choice, let it breath first.
Saw that it had the Wong 90pts, purchased one. Paired it with some Bratwurst and Sauerkraut. I opened the bottle up an hour early, to let it breath. At first was a bit disappointed, because the first glass seemed a bit mellow and was expecting more on the palate. After dinner had a second glass, which then it popped on the front side, with a nice finish on the back side, good fruit finish. I would recommend it to others, esp. with the price point, and also say to open it up early, perhaps use a diffuser etc. Wife liked it, so that’s a bonus. Cheers. LB.

Not the best year
I've had these from earlier vintages (can't remember which) & thought they were great for the price. The 10 is kind of disappointing, drinkable but rather soft & simple.

Staff at Douglas Blvd. Roseville CA always helpful and friendly
Mike at BevMo on Douglas Blvd. Roseville, CA. recommended this wine for me and he was spot on for what my palate wanted. Mike is always so patient and helpful with me and I have been trusting his judgment for many, many years. This is why I am so thankful Granite Bay, CA has a neighborhood BevMo. I remember having a family New Years Eve dinner and Gumbo is always EXPECTED and I need good champagne and the staff not only made an awesome recommendation but I purchased lots of bottles at a reasonable price. However I found out purchasing this particular champagne during graduation and wedding season is very popular.

I found this wine to be very harsh. I purchased it based on the reviews saying it was smooth. It is not smooth at all. I found it very astringent and would not buy it again
