The Best!
My go-to. If I had only one whisky I could drink every day, this would be it. Some of their others are brilliant, but this is the foundation of their core selection. There's a reason it's the most popular single-malt whisky in the world.

Nice, friendly intro to Scotches.
It's been a favorite for many years now. Very enjoyable. Simple, not too hot. I prefer the 15 year old but this one will do in a pinch. A good Scotch for the novice to get started on.

Pear and sweet - GREAT value
A great value scotch and VERY worth the money. I can taste the pear and unlike Glenlivet 12, the finish is still sweet. Even my wife, not a scotch drinker, liked it. Well done! Overall, I prefer a bit more complexity and like the 15 year Solara version better....but this is good, too!

Unfair ratings
I'm just giving this 5 stars to balance out the idiots comparing it to Laphroaig. For a first time Scotch, you could do a lot worse. It's sweet and crisp - perfect for when you don't want to think too hard. There's a reason so many people around the world enjoy it.

Overall good, but not one striking feature
It's a decent whiskey that I would definitely recommend trying out at least once. I give it a three stars because there's no aspect that stands out, everything has been mellowed in this whiskey. Definite hints of apple, maybe some smokey bits in there, somewhat smooth, but also somewhat harsh...it takes a lot of effort to relax with this one.

Glenfiddich 12 year old is one of my favorite scotch. Produced in the Speyside region of Scotland neighboring the river Spey, and aged in both used Spanish and American oaks, which most likely housed bourbon, rum, or sherry; it bursts of sweet pear scents, a bit of tobacco dipped in vanilla, and honeyed barley on the nose. Try it neat, and a sudden cornucopia of flavors will take your senses by surprise. On the palate, creamy buttery barley is dominant along with toasted oats, pear juice, some peat smoke and a bit of tobacco, abundant vanilla creme brulee, toasted walnut accents sweetened with honey, hints of bitter sweet raisin caramel, scant floral notes, perfumed wood, and faint heather will definitely intrigue your palate when you are chewing through the flavors. Finally, the smooth medium dry finish perfectly compliments the flavors of Glenfiddich 12 year old, along with the bitter sweet buttery aftertaste that linger in your palate like a faint echo from a distance.

Not flavorful or smooth. Try Laphroig for about the same price.

Great value
A low cost, quality dram that still deserves a place on the shelf. Green apple & pear notes. Not overly complex, which turns a lot of people off. For the price you can't go wrong. One of my first single malts that I tried and I am glad I did!

A great starter Scotch and even a good staple Speyside Single Malt.
This is a great jumping off point if you're looking to venture out from Jack Daniels or Jameson. There is enough simple-complexity here to help a new comer get a basic understanding of what Scotch whisky is about. This won't blow your socks off by any means. It is inoffensive and fruity with notes of almond, pear and light cinnamon. It is from the Speyside region of Scotland which generally goes for sweeter malt flavors over savory and robust flavors. This makes a great gift for a whisky lover who hasn't yet ventured to deep into the world of Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Can't decide between this and Glenlivet 12? I prefer the Glenfiddich 12 over the livet. Due to the stronger black pepper notes on the palate of the livet. The fiddich is just a more enjoyable drink all around. Do not mix this with soda or slug it back from a shot glass! Drink it neat from a Glencairn slowly enjoying the subtle flavors on nose and palate and finish. If it's too strong add a few drops of water to your glass to cut down the ABV. Cheers!
