One of my faves
I don't understand how anyone could bypass a Negroni now & then. And it *definitely* has to have an orange twist -- even better with a blood orange.

But I happen to like most anything with a good gin. ;^) Short of drinking it out of a shoe, that is...

Both bitter and sweet
The other reviewers are right in that it has a strong bitter finish. The sweeter notes greet you first, however, and while the bitterness is a tad too powerful for me when drinking straight, in a cocktail such as a Negroni, it's sublime. Americans are used to more sweet/fruity cocktails, so this may be a bit of a shock to your tongue if you're not prepared. Try a Negroni or an Americano.

an acquired taste
Starts out with fruit and finishes herbal and extremely bitter. There is definitely a cough syrup vibe. But I love bitter beers and this has some similarities. Think of this like an IPA of liqueurs. I would recommend trying a negroni. If you don't like it then move on. But if you like that then get a bottle and experiment.

Couldn't asquire a taste for it
I have tried Campari in several cocktails over the past year, tasted it neat, etc. and I have been unable to find what its appeal is. I'm rating it a 3 simply because it is an important ingredient in several classic cocktails and it is distinctive. I have several bitters which I use frequently, but I find that Campari's bitterness overwhelms drinks. It does have a fine color reminiscent of the skin of blood orange, and it has a pleasant orange/fruity nose; unfortunately the flavor is fleeting and overwhelmed by an omnipresent harsh bitterness.
