i first had this rum when i was in el salvador and was amazed of the taste of the rum and how smooth it was. this rum is one of the best if not the best i have ever had. it also went hand and hand with the cuban cigars i was smoking.

If you have room for just one sipping rum in your collection, let it be this one. Zacapa 23 has won so many tasting awards that they are essentially banned from competition. A blend of rums from between 8 and 23 years (and then put through the Solera process where the blend is aged in various used barrels such as cognac, sherry and Pedro Ximenez wine) --this beauty has it all. So smooth and just a hint of sweetness. Made from first press sugar juice rather than molasses and aged at high elevation. I just can't say enough good stuff about it. Cheers!

When you first open a bottle of Zacapa 23, you won’t have to be told that it was aged in sherry casks. There is a strong aroma of sherry and it will be the deciding factor as to whether you like this rum or not. I presented this rum to my two sons and their girlfriends and it was a split decision. The guys liked it and the gals hated it. The negative comment I remember was that, “it tastes like brandy”. It is preternaturally smooth, smoother than anything you have ever tasted with virtually no alcohol burn. It is made in Guatemala and it is a world-class rum that should be served neat. I am curious to try this again using the Vinturi Spirit Aerator.
How do you rate this? - Best sipping rum

Originally bought it in the Carribean where it was rated higher than any other sipping rum. It is just as good here but is a little harder to find. For just straight sipping, I will not use any other rum.
How do you rate this? - The Best.

My favorite rum. I can't say anything else about this rum that hasn't been said by previous reviews. So smooth. It just is best, period. Very well crafted and the price is very fair for what you get in the bottle.
