Not bad
Tastes great after adding a bit water. Fruity and Peppery. I can feel any after taste though.

She's a dark and stormy night- enough to keep you by the fire, warm and dry. Lingering finish, honeyed, sherried mouth presence, oak, and just a bit of smokiness. Great value and complexity.

Excellent 12 year old scotch
Excellent tasting scotch for sipping! Add a few drops of water and wow, the flavor and scents will rise from the glass.

Try others, but you might come right back to this Macallan 12y everytime
I'm new to scotch, but I have tried Johnnie Walker, Glenlivet and a few others and I keep coming back to Macallan 12y. I want to try some of the others, when my budget allows, but right now this is my go to scotch for a quiet night at home.

Keep a bottle handy behind the bar at all times.
Solid, rich and good whisky at this price point. I enjoyed it and will be a regular purchase. Read other reviews for testing, their pretty spot on.

More fire and less sweet than I had hoped for.
Maybe I wanted to believe the reviews and make this my new "must have" on my shelf at home, but it didn't live up to my expectations. First sip was firey, peppery. Didn't calm down with a splash of water so I added a little more. Once I got the ratio down it was quite flavorful but I do like my Scotch a tad more on the sweet side, like a Glenmorangie sherry cask finish. This is a fine single malt, just not one I would buy instead of Glenmorangie.

If it just had a bit of smoke
Macallan 12 is an excellent Scotch and there is only one reason I didn't give it a 5-star rating... a touch of smoke, if it only had a touch of smokey peat it would be perfect. Having said that, I find it's arrival to be subtle and then explosive. full of flavor that continues to develop. So smooth with an excellent finish. I only wish that it had a touch of smoke like a Highland Park 12.

My absolute favorite Scotch
The 12 year old Macallan is a great Scotch for the most discerning connoisseur. It is bold, rich in flavor, yet exceptionally smooth. Having experienced 12 year old Glenlivet, Glenfiddich,Chivas and Balvenie, the Macallan is the clear choice for those looking for something robust in flavor and extremely aromatic to the nose. Albeit the Balvenie is extremely close to the Macallan and is definitely in the same class for those seeking a very flavorful Scotch.

Od reliable
This was the very first "premium" single malt I ever tried and I still can't fault it. The 12 year old has the slightly sweet taste that I needed early in my scotch whiskey history and there is just a hint of what tastes to me like hazelnut. As I've grown older, my horizons have expanded into the more smokey and peaty scotches, but I still have a special place for this one....I am sipping it right now, as a matter of fact.

No scotch collection should be without The Macallan!!!
This is my "go to" scotch in this price range. Very smooth with a great finish. I often put this in my flask for a little "liquid courage" on the golf course. I told my wife "You can never go wrong buying me The Macallan!

Good starter Scotch?
This is hard to beat in the price range for a non-peated Scotch. Creamy, fruity, full-bodied with a twinge of a peppery bite. The finish is initially a bit sharp but spreads and lingers nicely. This is a good Scotch to start people who have never had Scotch in their lives, that or Lagavulin 16 with a drop of water...but the price is more forgiving here.

Amazing Scotch!
This is easily of the best scotches period. Just get one, and enjoy it: neat, with a teaspoon of water, over an large ice-cube, whichever makes you feel is perfect for you. Somehow i keep coming back to this scotch.

must try, one of the best for the money, smooth, quality
This got me started on Scotch. Smooth, flavorful, easy to drink. A friend bought a round, told me not to pound it, and I was utterly amazed by the flavor and smoothness. A little sweet, which i like.

The Rolls Royce of single malt scotches
I have tried many of the Highland scotches and although I consider myself a newbie, I really can tell the superiority in this one. The hint of sweetness from the sherry casks is unmistakable and quite pleasing. This is by far the best I have tried. A friend once told me, "Macallan is the Rolls Royce of single malt scotches" and I couldn't agree more. Some day I hope to try an older one, but I think I will try the cask strength next. Stay tuned for my review of that one...
