My all time favorite rum
Awesome bottle of rum. I tried it on vacation to St. Thomas and got a liter bottle for like $6 tax free. The only thing I regret is not buying a case at that price. This is a must buy!

Take no prisoners, kick you in the teeth sugar cane
This rum is pitch black with overwhelming grassy sugar cane notes. This can be good or bad depending on your intentions. As a sipper, you probably won't enjoy it. As a replacement for Myers's, Goslings or Coruba dark rums it's probably too harsh on the cane palette. However in small quantities mixed into your favorite Tiki rum cocktail, this extra kick of cane is pure s-e-x in a bottle. As a mixer this is a great value as 1/4 or 1/2 oz shots go a long way. One bottle might last you months.

Rustic charm galor, a veritable dirtbike of the rum kingdome
I love this rum! It has a strong presence of slightly-singed caramel that is surprisingly friendly and excellent in a mix, particularly with Coke. You really get the flavor of the Blackstrap molasses shouldering through but this is not a rum that is overly sweet. I sip it when I'm in the mood for rum that's raw but richly flavorful - a shot of Jack at the pool hall rather than a snifter of single malt. At this price point it is an excellent purchase but not for every palate. It is also the secret ingredient in my favorite BBQ appetizer recipe. What's that, you ask? Well...... Soak the freshest fillet of salmon you can find - ask the fishmonger to skin it for you, do NOT buy already skinned - in this rum for 20 minutes, rinse and pat dry. Completely jacket the fillet in a mix of 2/3rds brown sugar, 1/3rd kosher salt, black pepper and maybe a pinch or two of powdered mustard or cumin. Coat the fish so thoroughly you cannot see the fillet under the mix. Place in a covered glass dish in the refrig, liquids will pool up around the fillet. Rinse clean, pat dry and build a moderate bed of coals and smoking wood chips on one side of your BBQ grate. Oil the grill and place the fish above the non-coal side so it cooks through indirect heat and gets lots of smoke. Monitor it and when it gets done to where it flakes easily but is not dried out pull the fillet out and let it sit on a drying rack until cool. Serve with mustard and crackers, maybe a soft cheese. It rocks.
