Quality gin
I've tried others and found that Beefeater dose not have an after taste. Most other gins seem to give me headaches even after just one, so I'll pay a little more for quality.

Still Performing Yeoman Work!
I've shopped around and tried many a gin, in bottles colored from one end of the spectrum to the other, and hailing from equally broad sources, but Beefeater remains my No. 1 and only choice. It alone has the licoricey bite and balance of other flavors that makes it perfect for sipping over ice - pace, Anglorum! - and relegates other gins to the mixing well.

Solid gin for the price
Beefeater's a solid gin for gin & tonics or martinis, although I'd say it's best in gin & tonics or with other mixers. It's a good middle of the road gin in terms of flavor profile for the cost.

A classic London Dry gin suitable for the most discerning palates
To each his own, but I had to chime in to counter Byron's review. Beefeater is about as classic a London Dry gin as you'll find. It's juniper forward and smooth. It mixes very well in classics like Martinis, Aviations, etc., and it's anything but expensive at $15/750 ml. Tanqueray is very nice as well, but Beefeater uses nine botanicals to Tanqueray's four, which leads to a more complex flavor profile. Gins are not created equal, but I've honestly never heard anyone say they thought Beefeater was no good until now. The PDT cocktail book calls for it specifically in a number of its recipes--that ought to tell you something right there.
