Sleek and refined; every year Rombauer produced a rich-berried and spicy style Zinfandel; a generous juiciness on the palate; beautiful textures, with a smooth and silky finish.

Rombauer Zinfandel, the world's best zinfandel...again.
Rombauer Zinfandel is the best zinfandel in the world, bar none. It has been the best since at least the 2004 vintage when I first tasted it. What makes it the best? It has the cleanest big fruit forward taste. There are some other pretty good zins but they tend to have either a rubber after taste or some other unpleasing finish. A good example is Klinker Brick - it's as if you were chewing on soft rubber. Other pretty good zins share some of Rombauer's qualities, but they don't go all the way, i.e., Oak Ridge, Earthquake, St. Amant Mohr-Fry, Sobon, Renwood, and even Frank Family and Heitz. Does this mean that everyone will love Rombauer Zin? No, because people have different tastes; after all, some people actually think that Starbucks coffee tastes good...yeech! And some cab and pinot noir lovers think that Rombauer Zin is over the top...which it is, compared to the blandness of cabs and pinots. You should not want your zin to taste like a cab, and vice-versa. Rombauer is definitely not a cabernet, pinot, merlot, syrah or barbera. It is the zinfandel by which all others should be compared; you can like another zinfandel better, but this should be your benchmark to judge the other. The 2004-8 vintages were the best. 2009 dropped off slightly, and 2010 was far off the mark (still better than everything else, but not up to their usual). Interestingly, the 2010 vintage was the first vintage that was not sold out in retail stores months ahead of the next vintage; so I presume Rombauer zin lovers felt the same as me. The 2011 vintage was a rebound, back to about as good as 2008 or 2009. However, the 2012 vintage (the one currently in stores) is back to fantastic. It might rival the 2004 and 2005 vintages; a few more months aging in the bottle will tell the tale. But straight from the store shelf to your glass it is fantastic.

I love this bottle, 2010 is a better bottle, however the 2011 is great and you cant beat the 30$ price. its 45$ at Rayleys which is simply ridiculous! Amazing bottle, has a little bit of sweetness to it but isnt over powering.

If I could give it 10 stars I would!!   Bursts into your mouth with Fruity,  Jammy flavors.  Once you taste   this one you will not want any other Zin.  Love, love, LOVE it.
