Deep ruby. Dark fruits on the nose and palate, with notes of spice and anise adding complexity. Juicy and precise, with very good depth and slow-building spiciness.

Too hot to handle!
Wow--very rich for a CNP- I got the black fruit in spades--, but the 15% alcohol was overwhelming on the nose and finish! The sommelier who we tasted it with put it down and preferred a much more nuanced wine. If you like 'em big and hot, this is for you; otherwise, not so much.

Good value
Bought 10 bottles in the last $0.05 sale. Good buy. Very tasty indeed.

Definitely Agree with Alexander that Wilfred Wong consistently overrates everything though I would say it's more like 3-5 points and not 7-10. However, he does hit some on the nose and this is one of them. This wine definitely needs about an hour of decanting time before it really starts to show it's colors, but it is a very nice and memorable wine for the $20 that I got it for during a bev mo 5 cent sale. I would not take it at $40 or even $30, but at $20 - $25 it is well worth the price and a nice change of pace from the big Zins and Cabs of California that I usually drink. Very earthy/rustic taste. Will probably get very good in a few years of age. Looking forward to the other 3 bottles I have.

I never agree with Wilfred Wong's ratings, which are overblown. Time and time again he takes mediocre 85pt wines and give them 93-95 points. Well, what do you expect for someone employed by a store trying to clear its inventory? This time, however, he was right on the money. For someone who's not too much into French wines, this beauty is trully a winner! It's bold yet delicate, intriguing and unpredictable, incredibly complex. Wonderful nose, gorgeous color and a long lingering finsih. 92-93pts.
