Delectable, above-average character
A rich wine with great fruity notes and above-average character. Definitely needs to breathe to smooth out and reach its full potential. In an earlier review I noted that it's easily worth a 90 (4.5), and maybe a little more, but I only gave it four stars because I didn’t think the wine was “simply amazing”. But since then I’ve had several more bottles (of the 2010 vintage), and a 4-star rating just doesn’t do it justice. (BevMo desperately needs to add half-star ratings, at the very least.) Anyhow, this is a delectable wine. It’s great with a typical Italian antipasto or selection of hors d’oeuvre such as bruschetta, various cheeses, cold cuts, spicy olives, deviled eggs...etc. A good bargain on the 5¢ sale.

Intense fruit and balanced sweetness
This review is for the 2010 Michael Pozzan Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. I have not tried any other vintages. The two most notable characteristics of this wine are the intense fruitiness and above-average sweetness, which are in nearly perfect balance. It's just the natural sweetness of grapes that were picked at the peak of ripeness. It leads me to believe that the wine will continue to develop and become much more complex with age. I bought a couple of bottles on the last 5¢ sale, and they're both gone now. I'm sorry I didn't buy more of it, especially since there's none of the 2010 left at my local BevMo. But I look forward to trying the 2011 next time it's on the 5¢ sale.
