Gypsy Boots or Robert Bootzin was SF born, he lived almost 90 years as a care free person that embraced clean living. He was on many TV shows in the 50's and 60's. This wine a tribute.

I bought this wine in Jan. 2014 and it was fantastic!  I brought it to a party where my good friend who knows and appreciates wine agreed it was great.  I bought it (admittedly, on sale) because of the 95 pts rating and it didn't disappoint.  Not sure why others found it worthy only of 1 star.

A Great Value
Dark in color, earthy nose with strong pinot taste and long finish. I think it is worth the price and worthy of its 95 Wilfred Wong rating. I cannot understand the grossly unfair one star assigned by a reviewer here. That should be reserved for stuff barely recognizable as wine.

Coarse and unrefined
I'm utterly confused by this wine. I bought it with some trepidation because of its inconsistent ratings, and now I can certainly understand the negative reviews. I don't disbelieve those who liked it; perhaps there are good bottles and bad bottles, and they got some of the good bottles, but I sure didn't. The bottle I had was coarse and unrefined. I've had better jug wine. It is unconscionable to sell a wine like this for such a price. I know good Pinot Noir when I drink it, and this isn't it. If the Gypsy Boots winery is capable of making good wine (and apparently they are, judging by the positive reviews), they ought to send a bottle of their best and prove it to each of the poor souls who took a chance on this wine and were burned. For my part, I'll never buy another bottle of their wine.

Fantastic Pinot Noir, if a tad overpriced.
Really puzzled by the wide variety of reviews here. Either there are quality control issues with this wine or this is a classic example of not being able to please everyone. I think this might be the best pinot I've ever tasted. An acquantance of mine tried it (not my same bottle) and called it "Gypsy Socks", thought it was nasty. I generally don't like barnyard-y pinots, but to me, this had classic strawberry and cherry cola notes and enough earth and acid to make a great food wine (but frankly I'm just drinking it by itself!). LOVED IT. As to the charges of it being overpriced, personally I think any wine over 30 is overpriced, but this is one of the better wines I've had, period, including much more expensive wines. So yes, I'd rather pay $20 but this is really good stuff.
