interesting herbal profile; kinda rough.
I remember smelling gin when I was very young and being intrigued, but mostly overwhelmed by the fumes. Citadelle brought that all back! For alcohol feel, this gin is a kick in the teeth compared to even regular Tanqueray, but I wasn't willing to just write it off as just "too harsh". Critics and other buyers liked it. They can't all be wrong! Citadelle has some unique herbal additions (like fennel, savory, and paradise grain) which add interest but can come off oddly served neat. When served straight, the long finish eventually leaves a slight savory-floral impression on the palate. But if you're looking for "sipping gin", this ain't it. For a negroni, I cut back the gin when using Citadelle. You could do worse for a martini or G&T base, but if you're starting from Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire, go here only if you like a really strong alcohol flavor.

Worth a shot
It's definitely a good gin for the price range, but for G&Ts I find Tanqueray and Bombay still smoother. I don't make martinis so I can't judge it on that. It's worth giving it a try in my opinion.

One of the three best dry gins in the world
To me this is one of the three finest dry gins in the world along with Blue (Austria) and Plymouth regardless of price. It has just the right amount of botanicals, a hint of citrus and a long smooth finish.

Grey Goose Goes Genever
Nice, medium bodied gin, from France, of all places, that gets the botanicals evenly balanced but not absent. Bombay Sapphire beware: sacrilege bleu!
